Alexandru A. Philippide (b. 1 April 1900, Iași - d. 8 February 1979, Bucharest) was a poet, translator, member of the Romanian Academy and have been awarded with the Herder Prize (1965). He is the son of linguist Alexandru Philippide. His volumes Aur sterp și Stânci fulgerate earned him acclaim, especially from Ion Barbu. He has translated works by Goethe, Schiller, Shakespeare, Heine, Mann, Tolstoi, Tagore etc.
