George Bălăiță (b. 17 April 1935, Bacău) is a contemporary Romanian novelist and short story writer associated with the 1960's generation and magic realism. The Joycean-inspired novel Lumea în două zile (The World in Two Days, 1975) is considered his masterpiece.
